Sport Huancayo ground out win at ADT
Sport Huancayo took all three points in the Clausura with a 3-1 victory over ADT on Saturday evening. The visitors were ahead by half-time and held on despite ADT's dominance in possession. To be fair, the hosts had the ball more but Sport Huancayo were sharper when it mattered.
H. Angeles opened the scoring at 17 minutes and Carabano doubled the lead with a penalty at 26. By then the visitors had already established control of the game. ADT looked uncomfortable despite having more of the ball.
Sanguinetti made it 3-0 at 35 minutes and the hosts had no answer. And here's the thing — ADT had 63 per cent possession but only two shots on target throughout the entire match.
The turning point came late on. Salcedo received a red card at 85 minutes and moments later Zamudio scored an own goal at 89. The hosts simply could not recover from that sequence.
Statistics tell the story of a mismatch. ADT had 89 attacks but Sport Huancayo created two big chances to none. The visitors shot with 56 per cent accuracy while the hosts managed just 17.
ADT remain 17th with 22 points after 24 games. Sport Huancayo sit 14th on 26 points and have closed the gap on the teams above them. Both sides still have work to do before the season ends.
