Universitario saw off UTK 4-2 in the Clausura round seven on Friday night, extending their push towards the top of the First Division while UTK continue to dig themselves deeper into the relegation zone.
UTK took an early lead through L. Arce in the 16th minute, and to be fair, they looked comfortable for a spell. A. Arroyo doubled their advantage just four minutes later, though he would see yellow in the 24th for a challenge that caught the eye.
Universitario pulled one back before half-time when J. Concha struck in the 45+1 minute. The visitors made two changes at the break, bringing on C. Fara and I. Barrios, and by then the momentum had shifted.
The second half belonged to Universitario. W. Riveros opened the scoring in the 73rd minute, followed by goals from A. Valera and A. Polo to complete the turnaround. D. Camacho picked up a yellow for UTK in the 84th, but the damage was done.
Universitario created more chances with 9 shots on target compared to UTK's 7, and their key passes total of 16 versus 11 told the story of who controlled the game. Both sides shared possession equally at 50 per cent, but the visitors were sharper in the final third.
The result leaves Universitario second on 45 points from 24 games, while UTK remain rooted to 18th place with just 15 points and cannot afford another slip.
