Al-Tai defeated Al-Jandal 2:1 in the First Division's Regular Season third round on Monday evening. The hosts took control early in the second half through A. Lopez, who scored twice to give his side a commanding lead before J. Silva pulled one back for the visitors.
Lopez opened the scoring in the 37th minute and added his second just after the break in the 49th. Al-Jandal responded with a goal from J. Silva in the 78th minute, but the visitors could not find an equaliser despite creating more chances throughout the match.
The statistics tell a story of territorial control without conversion. Al-Jandal registered 138 attacks to Al-Tai's 77 and took six corners against two. Yet only five shots found the target for the visitors compared to two for the hosts, and the accuracy gap was telling — 0.24 versus 0.4.
The result moves Al-Tai further clear in the lower half of the table, while Al-Jandal remain rooted to 15th place with just one point from two games. The hosts now sit on three points after their fourth-round fixture, having bounced back from a string of heavy defeats earlier in the campaign.
Both sides made multiple substitutions in the second half, with Al-Tai bringing on five players including Simy in the dying moments. N. Al Qamiri received the match's only yellow card in the 90th minute plus six seconds, a late booking that did little to change the outcome.
