Buzău saw off Potissa Turda 32:23 in a club friendly on Thursday evening. The Romanian handball sides met at the start of August with little on the line but pride and match fitness on the table.
Buzău came into the fixture with mixed recent results. They had beaten Cluj 47:24 in late May before losing to Dinamo Bucharest 27:36 on the 2nd. Their last outing was a victory over Timişoara 31:24 on the 26th of April.
Turda's form looked steadier on paper. They had taken Vaslui 31:30 in May and held off Minaur Baia Mare 30:28 a week earlier. Their last three games were all narrow defeats — to Suceava, Bucharest and Constanza.
The scoreline told the story quickly. Buzău camped in the final third from the off and never looked back. Turda had the ball at times but could not string together any meaningful runs. By then the gap was six goals and the visitors had one foot out the door.
What matters is what this means going forward. Buzău are building momentum under their new setup. A win of this margin against a side that had been competitive in their last outings suggests they are ready for something more.
