Emilia beat AN Francesco 40-7 at home in the Coppa Italia on Saturday, 3 October 2026. The hosts proved too strong from the opening whistle, running in well before the break to take control of the tie. AN Francesco could only watch from the sidelines as the gap widened throughout the contest.
Emilia ended a barren spell with this comprehensive victory, showing the kind of consistency they have struggled to find away from home. Their forwards dominated the set pieces and set a hard work rate that AN Francesco could not match. The backs exploited the space created, finishing moves with clinical precision.
Emilia came into this fixture with mixed recent results. They beat Vianada 25-14 last time out and had also seen off Petrarca Padova 27-5 in June. However, they had lost to Vianada twice this season and dropped points against Modano at home. This result will give them confidence ahead of the next round.
AN Francesco arrive on the back of a heavy defeat to Biella 45-50 and a loss to Vicenza 7-35 earlier in the season. Their only win in the list came against Rugby Lions 59-14 back in November. They will need to regroup quickly if they are to avoid a spiral of results.
The scoreline suggests Emilia should have too much for their opponents in future ties. AN Francesco switched off at the back and paid the price when Emilia hit the line. Cup football has its own rules, and this was a day where preparation made all the difference.
