New ownership arrived at Reggio nell'Emilia in July 2018, and it came with a different idea of what the club should be. Elettric80 and BEMA, industrial firms from the region, took over what had been Rugby Reggio, renamed it Valorugby Emilia and set out to represent the wider Emilia area rather than a single city.

Rugby Reggio itself went back to 1970, but the trophies came after the rebrand. The Coppa Italia arrived first, in 2018–19, a 32–10 win over Valsugana that gave the new project its first silverware.

Matches against HBS Rugby Colorno carry their own weight in the region, billed locally as the Derby Emiliano. Stadio Mirabello, home ever since, holds around 4,500.

Luca Bigi is the name supporters bring up first. He came through the club when it was still Rugby Reggio, left, and returned in 2025 — back at Mirabello for the season that finally delivered the Scudetto.
