Guangxi Hancheng and Suzhou Dongwu played out a 3-3 draw in the League One Regular Season on 22 August. The hosts sit third with 20 points from 20 games, while the visitors languish in 14th place with 19 from 21.
And here's the thing about this one — it never settled. N. Mbo opened the scoring for Guangxi in the 25th minute, only for L. Lapoussin to equalise for Suzhou nine minutes later. Mbo restored the lead at 67, but then the match turned.
By then, the visitors had come alive. Farley Rosa levelled in the 78th minute before O. Bugiel put Suzhou ahead at 83. The hosts could not respond, and Rosa completed his brace in the 87th minute to seal the draw.
Guangxi dominated possession at 55 per cent and created six big chances from 24 shots, seven on target. Suzhou were more efficient, converting 57 per cent of their shots on target, though they managed only four on target from 21 attempts.
The visitors also won more aerial duels 14 to 14 — level, but with five successful clears compared to Guangxi's nine. Total attacks favoured Suzhou 80 to 73, and they completed more long passes 65 to 50.
The result keeps Guangxi within touching distance of the top four, though their recent form has been uneven — a 4-4 draw with Heilongjiang and a 0-2 loss to Guangzhou E-Power in their last two outings.
Suzhou's run of clean sheets continues, having drawn 0-0 with Nantun Zhijyun on 16 August. They remain 19 points adrift of the leaders, but this point extended their unbeaten run to three matches.
