Hwasan Hammer Daegu 5-1 as Pllana Unleashes Hat-Trick Plus Two More
Hwasan put on a ruthless display to beat Daegu 5-1 in the K-League 2 regular season on Saturday. The hosts made it count from every opportunity they created, while Daegu wasted possession and created little of note. Leonard Pllana was the man of the match, firing four goals in a performance that left the visitors' defence shell-shocked.
Pllana opened the scoring in the fifteenth minute, then doubled his tally just before the break. Jegal Jae-Min added a third on the stroke of half-time to send Hwasan into the interval with a commanding lead. The visitors could only watch as Pllana continued his masterclass after the restart, scoring again in the sixtieth minute and adding a penalty in the sixty-fifth to complete his haul.
Park In-Hyeok pulled one back for Daegu in the sixty-second minute, but Hwasan had already built a cushion that proved insurmountable. The home side substituted Pllana in the seventy-sixth minute, allowing him to rest after a performance that will be talked about for weeks. Daegu had no answer to the relentless pressure once the hosts went behind.
The statistics tell a story of wasted opportunity. Daegu held 60 per cent possession and launched 120 attacks, but only managed two shots on target. Hwasan had just 40 per cent of the ball and 64 attacks, yet seven shots on target found the net four times. It was efficiency over volume, and that is what decided the game.
Hwasan move up to fifth place with 40 points from 24 games, while Daegu remain fourth on 43 points. The result ends a poor run for the visitors, who have now lost three of their last four matches. For Hwasan, it was a statement performance that could prove crucial in the latter stages of the season.
