Kidderminster Harriers and Aldershot Town played out a 1-1 draw in the National League's third regular season match at Agboro on Saturday. L. Walker opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Aldershot's J. Borgnis was sent off in the 39th. T. Abrahams equalised with a late goal in the 87th minute.
There were plenty of bookings throughout, with nine yellow cards and two red cards shown. H. Sandah collected two yellows and a red in the 75th minute, while Aldershot also had R. Devine and D. Davis cautioned in the 40th minute. M. Wyllie missed a penalty in the 53rd minute, a chance that could have settled things.
And here's the thing about the statistics — both sides had exactly 50 per cent possession. Kidderminster registered two shots on target from five attempts, while Aldershot managed one on target from three. The visitors took only two corners compared to the hosts' nine, but neither side could find a winner despite having more chances than the scoreline suggests.
There were plenty of changes on both sides. Aldershot brought on C. Stewart in the 54th minute, while Kidderminster made four substitutions in the 63rd minute alone, bringing on C. Dolan, R. Devine, Z. Brown and M. Wyllie. L. Walker was replaced in the 76th minute, and Aldershot added B. Tuma and N. Adom-Malaki in the 77th.
By then, both teams sat level in the table with eight points from five games. Kidderminster occupy 11th place with two wins, two draws and one defeat, while Aldershot sit just above them in 10th with the identical record. The result does little to separate the two sides in the early stages of the campaign.
