Antigua GFC beat Malacateco 2:0 in the Regular Season of the National League on Thursday. A. Maziero opened the scoring in the fifth minute and K. J. Lopez added a second in the seventy-second. The result gives the visitors three points on the road.
Maziero was on target early, and Malacateco found themselves behind before settling into their rhythm. Things came to a head in the second half when the visitors doubled their advantage. Antigua GFC held their nerve and saw the game out.
Malacateco had the more aggressive approach, but the discipline wore thin. A. Morales, A. Robinson, A. Soto and M. S. Zamora Contreras all picked up yellow cards before the break. K. Ramirez went off the same colour for Antigua GFC in the sixty-first minute, and there was another booking on the hour mark.
The visitors brought on O. Castellanos for Maziero in the seventy-third minute, and J. Ochoa was replaced by N. Andrade in the eighty-ninth. Malacateco made three changes, bringing on V. Paz, W. Fajardo and the unnamed player for Zamora Contreras.
Malacateco dominated possession at 56 per cent and recorded 99 attacks compared to 68 for the visitors. They had seven corners to three and more shots on target, but the statistics do not always tell the full story. Antigua GFC found no answer to the pressure, but they had enough to win.
The visitors extend their unbeaten run and move clear in the table. Malacateco will need to regroup after a result that fell apart after the opener.
