HJK claimed a 2-0 win against Racing in the 2nd Qualifying Round semi-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League on Tuesday evening. The Finnish side took control early when J. Topra broke the deadlock in the forty-second minute, giving them a cushion before the break.
Racing looked vulnerable going forward and could not trouble HJK's defence. L. Bethea picked up a yellow card in the forty-third minute as her side struggled to find their rhythm. The visitors were comfortable in possession and did not need to force matters.
HJK made changes to manage the game after their lead was established. K. Sarelius came on in the forty-sixth minute, while two more substitutions followed in the fifty-eighth minute as K. Dos Santos and L. Bethea were withdrawn. The visitors then added a second goal through M. Kiviranta in the eightieth minute.
Racing made several substitutions in the closing stages, bringing on M. Kamogawa, C. Corplet, C. Rigaud and J. Topra. These changes did not change the complexion of the tie, though they showed the hosts were still looking for something from the match. HJK saw out the remainder without incident.
The result means HJK advance to the next stage of the competition. Racing's recent form has been mixed, with heavy defeats against Влазниа and Ференцварош before a win over Рига. HJK, by contrast, have been building momentum with victories over ПК-35 Вантаа and ХПС.
