HJK

HJK's women go into this season defending a domestic double — the league and cup won again in 2025, a 25th Naisten Liiga title and 19th Finnish Cup.

The club itself dates to 19 June 1907, when it was founded in Helsinki as Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi. The departments fell away one at a time — bandy in 1963, figure skating in 1972, handball in 1976 — and the hockey section merged with Karhu-Kissot in the 1970s to form Helsingin Jääkiekkoklubi, later folded into Jokerit.

A holding company, HJK-Klubi Oy, was set up in 1991 to put the finances on a stable footing. In 2004 the club bought Jokerit's football team and built a reserve side, Klubi 04, on the back of it. A decade later HJK became the first Finnish club to reach the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.

The women's team plays its home matches at Bolt Arena, still known locally as Töölö Football Stadium and listed as Helsinki Football Stadium for UEFA fixtures, which holds 10,770. Marieanne Spacey-Cale, the Arsenal and England legend, played there during her career.
