Ruch Chorzów beat Lechia Gdańsk 1:0 in the fourth round of the I Liga on 14 August. The result leaves the hosts eighth with ten points from seven games, while Lechia drop to fifteenth on seven points.
Ruch took an early yellow card through M. Glogowski in the seventh minute and Lechia answered with a booking for N. Lesniak-Paduch ten minutes in. S. Kopasek came off for Ruch at half time, while S. Szymanski picked up a second caution for the visitors in the 47th.
Substitutions piled up in the second half. S. Nagamatsu replaced someone at 66 minutes, M. Glogowski was drawn off at 74, and Lechia brought on M. Rosol and D. Szczepan together at 77. K. Laskowski came on for Ruch at 84, and I. Bambecki joined Lechia's side at the 90th minute.
It was M. Pawlowski who ended the barren spell in the 90th minute. The goal brought Ruch three points, though there was another event at 90+8 that the data does not name a scorer for.
Ruch dominated the numbers. They recorded 101 attacks to Lechia's 94, won 11 corners against four, and fired 18 shots off target to 8. On target, the split was 7 to 3, and possession sat at even 50-50.
The win tightens Ruch's grip on mid-table safety. Lechia's gap to the top half remains a concern after seven games and only two victories.
