Miedź Legnica secured a 2:0 victory against Ruch Chorzów in the I Liga Regular Season on 2 August. The visitors moved alongside the leaders while Ruch's search for consistency continued. Three wins from seven games leaves the hosts eight points off the top.
Ruch started the brighter, pressing high up the pitch in the opening exchanges. S. Nagamatsu picked up a yellow card at 19 minutes for a challenge that tightened things up. Miedź responded with their own structure, and the half ended without a decisive moment either way.
The second period brought a turning point. A. del Moral saw red at 72 minutes after a second caution, and Miedź took advantage. M. Mazur converted the penalty at 74 minutes, and O. Szymoniak added a second goal at 84 to seal the result. Ruch had already made four substitutions by then, but the numerical disadvantage proved too much.
The statistics tell a story of missed opportunities on both sides. Ruch registered 69 attacks and 12 shots but only two on target. Miedź managed 74 attacks and also hit the target twice, though their accuracy of 20 per cent edged Ruch's 10 per cent. Possession split almost evenly at 49 to 51, and neither side could string together a sustained period of pressure.
Miedź sit third with 14 points after seven matches, three from the leaders. Ruch remain eighth on 10 points, two behind the play-off places. The result extends Miedź's unbeaten run to five games while Ruch's recent form shows three losses in four outings.
