Slovan Ljubljana beat Beltinci 3-1 in the Second SNL at regular season round two on 15 August. The hosts took all three points at home while the visitors dropped ground after a mixed run of results.
And here's the thing about the opening minutes — Raspet gave Slovan the lead after just two minutes. You could sense the visitors settling in by then, but Dzajic doubled the advantage before half-time at twenty-two. Slovan were not done yet, with Kujovic adding a third at thirty-five.
Beltinci pulled one back through Gibson at fifty-five, but it was too little too late. The visitors had won three of five and sat fourth on nine points, while Slovan were seventh with the same tally. To be fair, both sides had lost two and drawn none this season.
Slovan's recent form reads like a storybook of inconsistency. They lost 3-0 to Dekani on 8 August, then before that a 1-0 defeat by Bistrica on 23 May. Beltinci's run looked different in character. They beat Rudar 2-0 on 7 August but had lost 3-1 to Al-Faisal two days before that. Before that came a 4-0 defeat by Sharjah on 22 July, followed by a 5-2 victory over Podvinci on 18 July. The 2-0 loss to Varazdin on 16 July completed the pattern.
The result leaves both sides on nine points after five games. Slovan move to seven in the table, while Beltinci remain fourth. The gap between them is small, but the confidence from a three-goal performance sits heavier on the home side's shoulders.
