Helsingør cruise past Valenbacks in Danish Cup
Helsingør put Valenbacks to the sword in the Round of 128 of the Danish Cup on Monday evening. The visitors ran out 4-1 winners, a scoreline that reflected their control from the first whistle. Valenbacks had little to show for their efforts beyond the opening half.
G. Jacobsen gave Helsingør the lead just before half-time, slotting home in the 45th minute. The goal shifted momentum and Valenbacks never really recovered. To be fair, the hosts looked shell-shocked after that moment.
The second half belonged entirely to the away side. N. Vesterbaek doubled the advantage in the 67th minute, and by then the game was effectively over. Valenbacks' defence had no answer to the pressure.
J. H. Sondergaard made it three in the 74th minute and added a second in the 81st. He found a way through every time the ball came his way. And here's the thing — three goals from two players told the story.
A fourth goal arrived in stoppage time, though the exact minute remains unclear. Valenbacks have been struggling of late, having lost 1-7 to Nakskov and 0-6 to Ishøj in previous outings. Helsingør, meanwhile, showed flashes of their recent form — a 3-0 win over FA 2000 and a 1-0 victory against Brabrand.
The result sends Helsingør through to the next round while Valenbacks' cup dream comes to an early end. The visitors proved too strong for a hosts side that looked short of ideas.
