Příbram beat Vysočina Jihlava 2:1 in the third round of the FNL at the start of August. Miroslav Krulich netted twice after the break to overturn Hosek's early opener. The hosts controlled the ball but could not find a second goal.
Only two minutes had passed when Hosek found the net for Příbram. Jihlava responded with a flurry of possession but struggled to convert. Svestka and Moudry picked up yellow cards in the opening half as the visitors sat deep and waited.
The game opened up after the interval. Krulich levelled on 54 minutes and then went ahead 13 minutes later. Jihlava threw bodies forward, bringing on Fila, Usman and Conte in quick succession. Krulich was substituted on 81 minutes, his work done.
The statistics tell the story of a match decided in moments. Jihlava enjoyed 64 per cent possession and registered 117 attacks, but only five shots found the target. Příbram managed 65 attacks and four shots on target, yet scored twice. Things came to a head in the second half when the visitors stopped chasing the game and started punishing it.
The result puts Příbram ahead on points after three opening rounds. Jihlava will need to be sharper in the final third if they are to close the gap. Cup football has its own rules, but this was league football, and three points matter more than possession.
