About the player
Andres Dumitrescu moved to Petrolul Ploiești in January 2026 on a permanent transfer, joining after terminating his contract with SK Slavia Prague. The left-back had spent much of his time with Slavia out on loan, returning twice to Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe for the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 seasons before a brief spell at SK Sigma Olomouc in 2025.
His senior career began at Sepsi OSK in January 2020, after coming through youth spells at FC Argeș Pitești and Viitorul Argeș, with short stints in the academies of Calcio Padova and FC Lugano. It was at Sepsi OSK that Dumitrescu won the Romanian Cup twice, in 2020–21 and 2021–22, and the Romanian Supercup in both 2022 and 2023. That form earned him a move abroad in September 2023, when Slavia Prague paid €1 million plus a 10% sell-on clause for his signature.
Dumitrescu has represented Romania at every youth level from under-17 to under-21, and received his first call-up to the senior national side in November 2023, though he is yet to win his first cap. Across his career in the Romanian SuperLiga he has made 107 appearances, scoring three goals and setting up eight more. Since arriving at Petrolul Ploiești he has featured 19 times in all competitions this season, scoring once.
