Ángel Israel Mena Delgado

Ángel Mena spent the bulk of his professional life outside Ecuador, building his career in Mexican football before returning home to Orense SC. He started out at Emelec, where he stayed for seven years before a brief loan spell at Deportivo Cuenca in 2010, then went back to Emelec to finish out his run there in 2014.

In 2017 he moved to Mexico to join Cruz Azul, the switch that reshaped the rest of his career. Two years later he signed for León, where he stayed the longest of any of his Mexican clubs, playing there until 2024. A short stint at Pachuca followed before he returned to Ecuador in 2025, signing with Orense SC. In his first season back with the club he played 26 matches.

Mena plays as a forward, primarily on the right wing, despite being left-footed. At 168cm, he is notably smaller than most players in his position, a physical trait that has shaped his style of play throughout a career built mainly on the wing rather than through the middle.
