Andries Noppert

Andries Noppert came through Heerenveen's own academy, training there until 2013, but a first professional contract for the 2013–14 season brought no senior appearances at the club. He had to leave to build a career, joining NAC Breda on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 for his professional debut, and he was part of the side that won promotion to the Eredivisie in 2017. A move to Foggia in Italian Serie B followed in January 2018, then spells at FC Dordrecht and Go Ahead Eagles, before a free transfer took him back to Heerenveen in May 2022 on a two-year deal. Since that return he has made over 60 league appearances for the club that first developed him.

The bigger stage came suddenly. Noppert made his senior debut for the Netherlands on 21 November 2022, starting in a 2-0 win over Senegal at the World Cup in Qatar. He kept his place as the starting goalkeeper for the whole tournament, playing every minute of the group games against Ecuador and Senegal, the Round of 16 win over the United States, and the quarter-final against Argentina. Those five matches remain his total tally of caps, all of them coming inside a few weeks at the World Cup.
