About the player
Andrin Hunziker's route to the Swiss Super League ran through the FC Basel academy, which he joined after his early years at FC Therwil. He made his senior debut for Basel in February 2021 and signed his first professional contract that June.
The forward's progress showed most clearly away from Basel. A loan to FC Aarau in the Challenge League brought 8 goals in 28 appearances, and a subsequent loan to Karlsruher SC in Germany's 2. Bundesliga added 2 goals in 16 matches.
Hunziker's contract with Basel ran out at the end of that loan, and rather than returning to his parent club he signed a permanent four-year deal with FC St. Gallen.
At international level, Hunziker has represented Switzerland at U16, U17 and U20 level, scoring for the U17 side, including against San Marino's U17 team in 2019.
