About the player
Bastunov came through the Botev Plovdiv academy without breaking into the first team, and his senior career only began once he left, joining Kariana Erden on a free transfer in 2018. Two seasons there earned him a move to CSKA 1948 in the summer of 2020, and it was in Sofia that he turned into a regular starter, making 83 appearances and scoring 10 goals across three seasons. He was part of the CSKA 1948 squad that reached the final of the 2022–23 Bulgarian Cup, though the team finished as runners-up. His contract expired in June 2023, and after a season at Hebar Pazardzhik he signed for Vizela as a free agent in July 2024.
His first campaign in Portugal brought 26 appearances and two goals. He has remained a fixture in the side since, adding 28 appearances, a goal and an assist in the 2025–26 Liga Portugal 2 season so far.
Bastunov has not yet been capped by Bulgaria's senior national team.
