About the player
Anton Tanghe stands out first for his height: at 194 centimetres, he towers over most opponents he faces in Belgian football. He came through the Club Brugge youth academy before switching to KV Oostende, where he worked his way up through the youth and reserve sides and joined the senior squad in January 2020.
At Oostende he grew into a leadership role, taking the captain's armband from Brecht Capon for the 2023–24 season after building up 97 league appearances and two goals for the club. That campaign proved to be his last in Oostende colours: in January 2024 he moved to Zulte Waregem on a free transfer, signing a contract running to 2027.
The switch paid off quickly. Tanghe became a regular fixture in the Zulte Waregem defence and was a key figure as the club won the 2024–25 Challenger Pro League title, securing promotion to the Belgian Pro League. Since joining, he has made 58 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
Internationally, Tanghe represented Belgium at youth level, collecting three caps for the under-18 side and two for the under-19s in 2017.
