About the player
Atte Sihvonen's career has run in loops through the Finnish top flight, always circling back to where he started. Born in Turku, he came up through the TPS youth ranks before a loan spell at ÅIFK in 2014 sent him out on his own. Stops at MyPa, SalPa and EIF followed, before a longer spell at Rovaniemen Palloseura between 2019 and 2020 brought him into European football, with appearances in the UEFA Europa League.
He returned to TPS in 2021, and it was there that he picked up the club's 'Herrasmiespelaaja' — Gentleman Player — award. A move to FC Haka followed in 2022, where he stayed for two seasons and played in the UEFA Europa Conference League. On 12 January 2024, Sihvonen went back to TPS on a free transfer.
He has not been capped by Finland's senior national side, and his career has so far gone without a major league or cup title. At 190cm, he offers TPS a physical presence at the back, wearing the number 17 shirt.
