About the player
Bećir Omeragić grew up in the Étoile Carouge youth system before moving on to Servette, and it was at FC Zürich, which he joined on a free transfer, that his career took shape. He made his senior debut for Zürich in May 2019 and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the club, part of the squad that won the Swiss Super League title in the 2021–22 season.
International recognition came early: he was named in Switzerland's squad for UEFA Euro 2020, wearing the number 24 shirt, though he did not feature in a match at the tournament.
In June 2023, Omeragić signed for Montpellier HSC on a free transfer. In February 2026, he joined FC Basel 1893 for a fee of around two million Swiss francs. The early months at Basel have been about settling in rather than making an immediate mark: by May 2026 he had made eight league appearances for the club without scoring.
Born in Geneva, Omeragić holds both Swiss and Bosnian-Herzegovinian citizenship. A right-footed central defender, he now wears the number 4 for Basel as he looks to build on the foundation laid during his years at Zürich.
