Moussa Cissé

Moussa Cissé came through Paris Saint-Germain's academy before leaving for Germany, where he spent close to three seasons with VfB Stuttgart's reserve side in the 3. Liga, making 54 appearances and contributing two assists from left-back. In January 2024 the club moved him up to the first team, and though he did not get onto the pitch in the Bundesliga, he sat among the substitutes for three matches that winter. That move came at the end of August 2024, when Cissé left Stuttgart on a free transfer to join FC Basel on a contract running to 2028.

Born in Saint-Denis, Cissé holds French nationality and is of Malian descent, though his representative career has stayed on the French side: he was capped five times by France at under-16 level in 2018. He has not featured for Mali or for France at any other age group.

A left-footed defender, Cissé's route into professional football ran through some of the more understated stages of the development pathway — youth football at Tremblay FC, the PSG academy, then the patient accumulation of minutes in Stuttgart's second team rather than an early first-team breakthrough.
