About the player
Léo Leroy left Stade Rennais at eighteen after turning down a contract with the reserves or the U19s. It was his father, the former France international Jérôme Leroy, then sports director at LB Châteauroux, who encouraged him to move there in 2018. He signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2019 and made his debut the following month.
Leroy stayed at Châteauroux until 2021, when he joined Montpellier HSC on a free transfer and established himself in Ligue 1 over the following three seasons.
In July 2024 he moved to FC Basel. Over two seasons there he made 92 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and adding an assist, and won the Swiss Super League and Swiss Cup double in the 2024/2025 campaign. He provided an assist in a 4–2 win over Thun in August 2026.
On 14 August 2026, Leroy transferred to Championship club Preston North End on a three-year deal. The fee was not officially disclosed, though the Swiss newspaper Basler Zeitung put it at around 2.8 million Swiss francs.
At international level, Leroy was capped twice by France at U19 level in 2019.
