About the player
Brad Stuver's clearest moment in an Austin FC shirt came in a penalty shootout, not in open play. In the 2022 play-offs against Real Salt Lake, he saved two of three spot kicks to send Austin through 3-1.
Stuver came through Cleveland State, where he was named Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year and helped the Vikings win the conference tournament, then spent time in the USL PDL with Cleveland Internationals and Akron Summit Assault before turning professional.
A move to New York City FC in December 2017 did not change his standing much.
Austin FC named him Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, and he was picked for the MLS All-Star roster in 2025. Off the pitch, his work with the Laundry Project earned him the 4ATX Foundation's Legend of the Year award and a nomination for the ESPY Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award in 2022. He has never been capped by the United States national team.
