Christian Brüls

In 2008 Brüls signed for Trabzonspor and never played a match for them. He moved on at once to MVV Maastricht for a small undisclosed fee.

He had come up at Grün-Weiß Amel before joining the K.A.S. Eupen youth set-up in 2002, and turned professional at Eupen in 2005. Foot injuries in the 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons limited how often he played there. After Maastricht came K.V.C. Westerlo in 2010, and in August 2011 a move to KAA Gent for an undisclosed sum; he had been close to signing for the champions, Genk, and chose Gent instead. A loan spell at OGC Nice in 2013–14 ended without the French club taking up its option to buy.

Stade Rennais paid €2.2 million for him in July 2014. Early in the 2014–15 season another foot injury kept him out for three months. Rennes loaned him to Standard Liège for €250,000 for the 2015–16 campaign, and he scored on his debut against Oostende; that season he won the Belgian Cup. He went back to Rennes briefly before returning to Eupen on loan in January 2017.

A season at Pafos FC in Cyprus followed, then a second spell at Westerlo in 2019–20, where he scored two penalties in a 4–1 win over Roeselare. He joined Sint-Truiense V.V. in 2021 and S.V. Zulte Waregem in January 2023, before signing for Waasland-Beveren in December 2024. Usually an attacking midfielder, he has also been used on the right and as a winger. He played for Belgium at under-21 level and has not been capped by the senior side.
