Cameron Devlin

When Cameron Devlin swapped shirts with Lionel Messi at the 2022 World Cup after the Argentine's 1,000th career goal, he had not kicked a ball at the tournament.

Devlin came through Sydney FC's academy after starting out at Western Sydney Wanderers, and broke into the first team in 2018, making seven league appearances and scoring once as the club won the A-League Championship that season. He also reached the final of the FFA Cup with Sydney. A free transfer took him to Wellington Phoenix in July 2019, where he became a regular, playing 44 league games over two seasons and scoring once. That spell earned him the A-League Men Player of the Month award in December 2019. A move to Newcastle United Jets in June 2021 lasted only on paper: he signed a two-year deal but activated a buyout clause and left without playing a match.

What began as a three-year contract was extended in September 2024 to run to the summer of 2026, before he left for Rangers on a free transfer once it expired.

Devlin has earned five caps for Australia's senior side and came through the Under-20 and Under-23 ranks, including a stint at the Tokyo Olympics. He was also named in Australia's squad for the 2026 World Cup.
