About the player
Costinha arrived at Torreense in July 2025 on a free transfer. Born in Coimbra, he came through the youth ranks at Esperança Coimbra and FC Porto, with a loan spell at Padroense, before finishing his development at Académica de Coimbra. His senior career began in 2011 at Sertanense and U.D. Tocha, and by the following year he had moved abroad to FC Fredericia in Denmark.
His most productive spell came at Lusitano FCV, where he scored 18 goals in 48 appearances, a return that earned him a move to Vitória Setúbal in 2015. There he settled for four seasons, making 100 appearances. Spells at G.D. Chaves and C.D. Santa Clara followed, before he joined C.D. Tondela in 2023, where he scored eight goals in 59 games and won the Liga Portugal 2 title in the 2024–25 season.
At Torreense, Costinha has continued to contribute goals from midfield, with four in 29 appearances by May 2026. He played his part in the club's Taça de Portugal triumph in the 2025–26 season, a cup won against Sporting CP, and featured in the Liga Portugal qualification playoffs that followed.
