About the player
Dayle Rooney came through St Kevin's Boys before joining Shelbourne's academy, and it was there that his career took shape. Across seven seasons at Shelbourne he made 110 appearances and scored 19 goals, winning the League of Ireland First Division twice, in 2019 and 2021, along with two Leinster Senior Cups. A free transfer took him to Drogheda United in December 2021, where he spent two seasons, making 74 appearances and scoring 10 goals. His form there was recognised when he was named the club's Players' Player of the Year in 2023, a season that also produced a 30-yard volley against which went viral.
Rooney moved to Bohemians on a multi-year deal in November 2023, again on a free transfer. He has since made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals. Among those, one stands out: the winning penalty against Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup in July 2024.
He has represented Ireland at youth level but has not featured for the senior national side. Across his career to date, he has made around 267 appearances and scored 42 goals in all competitions.
