Florian Wustinger

Florian Wustinger came back on for Austria Wien against TSV Hartberg on 25 November 2024.

The first came on 18 August 2022, in his left knee, against Fenerbahçe. He was promoted from the reserves in January 2022, handed a debut the following month, rewarded with the Austrian Bundesliga's Debüt-Award for the 2021/22 season and a long-term contract on 22 March 2022. He also played all four matches for Austria's under-19 side at the 2022 European Under-19 Championship, four caps in total.

The recovery led to a loan at SV Stripfing/Weiden in 2023. In his first match for the club, on 14 July, the same left knee gave way. A shoulder injury followed in July 2024 — a dislocation with cartilage detachment and a torn biceps tendon — and then, in October, a second spell at Stripfing to build match fitness back up, four appearances across two months before the return against Hartberg. On 14 January 2025, at a training camp in Turkey, his right knee went.

The route into the game was a short one geographically. Wustinger was born in Vienna and played for 1. SC Pfaffstätten before joining the Austria Wien academy in September 2010. He came through to the second team in 2020, made 16 appearances there, and signed his first professional contract in 2021. He is a defensive midfielder, right-footed.
