About the player
Fabio Saiz Pennarossa began at FC Cortaillod before moving through FC Biel/Bienne's youth ranks and into the academy at Neuchâtel Xamax FCS. He made his senior debut there in 2020 and signed his first professional contract that September, going on to make 127 league appearances and score seven goals across the Swiss Super League and Challenge League over six years with the club.
In February 2026 he moved to Yverdon-Sport FC, adding 11 Challenge League appearances and two goals before a further switch that July to FC Thun, the reigning Swiss Super League champions. The fees for both transfers were undisclosed. By August 2026 he had made three league appearances for Thun, scoring once, and had also featured four times in the UEFA Europa League, with a goal in that competition as well.
Saiz has represented Switzerland at youth level, with call-ups to the U19 and U21 sides, though he has not yet earned a senior cap. Born in Val-de-Ruz, he holds dual Swiss and Spanish nationality.
