Fernando Monarrez

Fernando Monárrez came through the Chivas academy in Guadalajara and made his first-team debut in the Copa MX on 8 January 2019. Later that year he moved to Spain to join the reserve side of Salamanca in the Segunda División B, a spell interrupted by a grade-two ankle sprain that kept him out for several weeks. By 2020 he was back in Mexico, starting over in the lower divisions.

What followed was a run through five clubs in four years, all outside Liga MX: Tlaxcala in the Liga Premier, then a Clausura 2022 title with Mazorqueros, followed by spells at Atlético La Paz, Chihuahua and Cimarrones de Sonora. None of it carried the profile of top-flight football, but it kept him playing. The route back up ran through Tijuana, where he made his Liga MX debut on 30 August 2024 and stayed until the following July, when he signed for Puebla as a free agent.

Monárrez is left-footed. He has represented Mexico at under-15 and under-20 level but has not been called up to the senior national team. His time at Puebla has already produced one notable moment for the wrong reasons: on 18 January 2026, in a Clausura match against Cruz Azul, he was sent off with a straight red card.
