About the player
Ivanildo Mendes came through Feyenoord's youth system before making the move to Sporting CP in July 2021. He worked his way up through the club's ranks, turning out for the U17s, the Juniores side and eventually the U23 squad. Sporting rewarded that progress with a first professional contract in November 2022, signed when he was just sixteen, and the club renewed the deal in May 2025.
Mendes has since split his football between two levels. With the U19s he has featured in the UEFA Youth League, and this season he has made eight appearances for that side. His senior football has come with Sporting CP B in Liga Portugal 2, where he made his debut in May 2026 after being registered with the squad since the previous campaign; he has made four appearances there so far this season.
Born in the Netherlands, Mendes has represented the Dutch youth national teams, having been involved with the setup since the U13 level. On the pitch, he plays as a left-footed midfielder.
