Jakub Brabec

Two goals for the Czech Republic stand out on Jakub Brabec 's record. The second arrived in November 2021 against Estonia, in a 2:0 win. He had made his senior international debut in 2016, and by the end of 2023 he had played around 40 matches for the national team.

Brabec came through the academy at Sparta Prague , joining in 2000 and staying until 2008. He then moved to Viktoria Zizkov , where he made 22 appearances over three seasons, before returning to Sparta as a free agent in the summer of 2011. Between 2011 and 2016 he played 71 league matches for the first team and scored six goals, with a season on loan at Zbrojovka Brno in 2012/13 that brought 18 appearances. Sparta took the Czech league title and the Czech Cup.

In August 2016 Genk paid around €2.5m for him. He made 37 league appearances in Belgium, and the last of his three seasons there was spent elsewhere — on loan at Rizespor in Turkey, then at Viktoria Plzen from February 2019. The Plzen move became permanent later that year, and it was there that he was named defender of the year in the Czech league for 2019/20.

He joined Aris of Thessaloniki as a free agent in August 2021 and stayed four years, making 119 league appearances and scoring six goals. In September 2025 he moved again on a free transfer, this time to Rio Ave in Portugal, where he wears the number 14.
