Joaquín Alberto Montecinos Naranjo

Joaquín Montecinos was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, though he built his career entirely in Chilean and Mexican football. He started out at Unión Temuco before a long spell at Deportes La Serena, followed by moves through San Luis de Quillota and Deportes Melipilla as he searched for a settled role as a winger.

That role clicked at Audax Italiano. In the 2021 season he scored eight goals in 29 matches, form good enough for El Deportivo, the sports supplement of La Tercera, to name him the best forward of the year. The recognition brought a first call-up to the Chilean national team, and he made his debut on 7 October 2021 in a 2–0 defeat to Peru. He went on to earn 11 caps, six of them in World Cup qualifying, plus friendlies against Mexico, El Salvador, South Korea and Slovakia, and an appearance at the 2022 Kirin Cup against Tunisia, though he started only three of those matches.

The Audax breakthrough took him abroad. Club Tijuana signed him on loan in February 2022 and made the move permanent that December for a fee of €1.9 million. His time in Mexico was interrupted by loan spells back in Chile: first at Querétaro, then at O'Higgins, before his Tijuana contract ran its course.

Montecinos returned to Chile for good in December 2025, joining Deportes Limache.
