Jake Girdwood-Reich

Jake Girdwood-Reich came through the Sydney FC academy, having earlier passed through the youth ranks at Sydney Olympic, St Johnstone and APIA Leichhardt, and spent several seasons in the club's NPL reserves before making his senior debut in May 2022. He stayed with Sydney FC until 2024, when he left for Major League Soccer, signing a permanent deal with St. Louis City SC that carried a club option through 2028. Alongside his time in the first team, he also featured for the reserve side, St. Louis City 2.

In September 2025 the defender moved to Auckland on a season-long loan from St. Louis City for the 2025–26 campaign. The loan has since been followed by a permanent switch to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, agreed on a three-year contract, though that move arrives only after his spell in New Zealand.

Girdwood-Reich has represented Australia at youth level rather than for the senior side. He was capped twice by the under-20s in 2023, including appearances at the AFC U-20 Asian Cup, and stepped up to the under-23s in 2024. That year he played at the WAFF U-23 Championship, where Australia finished as runners-up, and was named in the squad for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. He is yet to add a senior international appearance to that record.
