About the player
In February 2025, FBC Melgar sold Jefferson Cáceres to Sheffield United for a fee reported at around £1.2 million. It produced not a single competitive appearance for the English club.
In 2024, his last campaign in Peru before the move, Cáceres scored eight goals in 24 league matches. Across 2020 to 2024 the club recorded 39 appearances, eight goals and seven assists for him when it announced his departure.
Cáceres joined Melgar's academy in 2019 from Esther Grande, and made his first-team debut on 24 April 2021 against Universidad San Martín.
He moved on again. On 15 August 2025 he signed a two-year deal with Dunfermline Athletic in Scotland for an undisclosed fee.
His international record remains thin — one appearance for Peru's under-23 side in 2023, and no senior caps.
