About the player
Jesper Löfgren joined FC Luzern on loan in January 2024, and the move became permanent that May on a contract running to June 2027. The Swedish defender, born in Kalmar, passed through Nybro IF, Oskarshamns AIK and FK Karlskrona before signing with Mjällby AIF. A move to SK Brann in August 2018 came with an immediate loan back to Mjällby, where he spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons before returning to Norway.
In March 2021 Löfgren joined Djurgårdens IF on a four-year deal, and the club finished second in the 2022 Allsvenskan, a result that took them into the UEFA Europa Conference League. Despite that, he was loaned out to IF Brommapojkarna for the second half of the 2023 season before his switch to Switzerland.
At Luzern, Löfgren made 19 appearances in his first Swiss Super League season, then followed up with 10 league appearances and one Swiss Cup outing the year after. He has represented Sweden at under-19 and under-21 level, though a senior call-up has yet to come.
