About the player
Leon Geci came on in the 87th minute at HNK Rijeka on 8 April 2026, a Croatian Cup tie NK Slaven Belupo lost 2–0 away. It was a short first appearance, but it closed a long stretch in one place: Geci has never played for another club, and the academy that raised him in Koprivnica is the only one on his record.
Within the club he is described as a "child of the club", a player who dominated every younger age group on the way up. That progression ran through the Slaven Belupo U19 side, which reached the final of the Croatian U19 Cup in the 2025/26 season.
The senior club moved to keep him. On 7 August 2026 he signed a three-year professional contract, tying him to Slaven Belupo until at least 2029.
The international call followed the debut rather than preceding it. Geci was named in the Croatia U18 squad in June 2026 and made his debut against Norway. His first goal for the age group came against Turkey, the second of the three in a 3–0 win.
