Leonardo Lelo

Leonardo Lelo came through the academy at SC Olhanense before establishing himself in the first team there between 2018 and 2021. A loan to Portimonense in 2020/21 brought no reward: he was frozen out of the first team and did not make a single appearance for the club.

The move that shaped his career came in 2021, when he joined Casa Pia. Over four seasons as a left-back he made 126 league appearances and scored eight goals, forming part of the defence that took the Lisbon club up to the Primeira Liga in 2021/22. That campaign also brought him a place in the Liga Portugal 2 Team of the Season.

In May 2025, with his contract at Casa Pia at an end, Lelo signed for SC Braga as a free agent. The contract runs to 2029 and includes a release clause of €30 million. He has since made 29 league appearances for Braga and 47 in all competitions, with one goal, scored in the league cup.

At international level, Lelo has represented Portugal's youth sides: two caps for the under-20s in 2019, followed by five for the under-21s in 2022 and 2023, a run that included the qualifying campaign for the Under-21 European Championship. He has not been called up to the senior national team.
