About the player
Maxime Do Couto Teixeira came through the youth ranks at Tours, where he made his Ligue 2 debut for the first team in 2014 and stayed on with the reserve side until 2017, scoring 16 goals in 62 appearances. With Tours' reserves he had already won the Champion de France U19 title in 2013–2014, and that same year he won three caps and scored a goal for France's under-19 side.
A move down the divisions to Avoine OCC did his career no harm: a productive 2017–2018 campaign, with ten goals and ten assists in 20 matches, caught the eye abroad and took him to Ukraine. He signed for Olimpik Donetsk in July 2018, made his Ukrainian Premier League debut the following month, and stayed with the club for three seasons.
He returned to France in 2021 on a free transfer to Sochaux, and it was there that he produced the moment supporters still point to: a decisive goal against Paris FC that sent Sochaux into the promotion play-offs, later voted the club's Goal of the Season. Free transfers took him on to Amiens in 2023 and then to IMT Novi Beograd in Serbia in September 2024, before a move to Dinamo Tbilisi.
