About the player
Martin Gjone joined HamKam's defence in January 2026, moving from Sandefjord for a fee in the region of €125,000-130,000, with his former club keeping a sell-on percentage. The deal, worth around 1.5 million kroner, tied him to HamKam until the end of 2028.
Gjone came through Sandefjord's academy after starting out at Kvelde and Nanset IF as a boy. He spent several seasons with Sandefjord 2 in the lower divisions, making 50 appearances and scoring 11 goals before signing his first professional contract and making his senior debut for Sandefjord in April 2024. Across his time in the first team there, he made around 27-28 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.
At HamKam, he has played 16 matches into the 2026 season, scoring three goals and setting up three more. At 191 cm, he offers HamKam a physical presence at the back, playing predominantly with his right foot.
Gjone has also featured for Norway's under-20 side in friendly matches, without scoring, though he has not yet been called into the senior national team setup.
