About the player
Masahiro Sekiguchi took an unusual route into professional football, coming through Hosei University. While still a student in 2020, he was registered as a J.League Designated Special Player for Ventforet Kofu and made two league appearances before graduating and signing permanently in February 2021.
His four seasons at Kofu were built on consistency at right-back: he made 143 league appearances and scored four goals across the four campaigns. The high point came in 2022, when Ventforet Kofu won the Emperor's Cup for the first time in the club's history, with Sekiguchi part of the squad that delivered it.
In January 2025 he moved to V-Varen Nagasaki, stepping into a J2 League side with 24 league appearances and a goal in his first season. He has continued to feature regularly, taking his total for the club to 36 appearances and one goal.
