Marin Tomasov

Marin Tomasov arrived at FC Astana in July 2017 on loan from HNK Rijeka, a move made permanent a year later for €500,000, and has since become one of the most decorated players in Kazakh football. He has won the Kazakhstan Premier League four times with the club, in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022, added four Super Cups and a League Cup, and has scored more than 110 goals for Astana, enough to place him in the club's Nilton Mendes Club for centurions. He finished as the league's top scorer with 19 goals in 2019 and 17 in 2021, and was named Kazakhstan Player of the Year in both of those campaigns.

Before Astana, Tomasov made his name in Croatia. He turned professional with NK Zadar, before a move to HNK Hajduk Split in 2009 brought a Croatian Cup in 2010. That spell ended abruptly in 2012, when the Croatian Football Federation terminated his contract over unpaid wages, and he moved instead to TSV 1860 München — a transfer his agent arranged in place of an expected switch to GNK Dinamo Zagreb. Back in Croatia with Rijeka from 2015, he was named the league's Best Player and its top assist provider that season, and a loan to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia followed, where he scored four goals in 23 appearances and helped the side reach the final of the Saudi Crown Prince Cup.
