About the player
In May 2021, at 16 years and three months, Manuel Esposito set a Benevento record for the earliest debut in the club's youth side. He stayed with the Primavera team through three seasons, 2020/21 to 2022/23.
The move into senior football came on loan. At Campobasso in Serie D in 2023/24, Esposito was the first-choice goalkeeper from the outset: 37 appearances, 17 clean sheets. Campobasso won the Scudetto Dilettanti that season, beating Trapani 5-1 in the final.
A second loan followed, to Fidelis Andria, also in Serie D. He played 31 league matches in 2024/25 and kept 18 clean sheets.
The return to Benevento for 2025/26 was interrupted before it began. Esposito picked up an injury in August 2025 and missed the opening fixture against Crotone, listed as third-choice goalkeeper. In September he had surgery on a meniscus problem, then recovered ahead of schedule and was named in the squad for the match against Latina in October. He finished the season with two appearances in Serie C and one in the Coppa Italia, and Benevento won Serie C Group C.
Esposito has been called up by Italy at under-19 level, starting a match against Germany.
