About the player
Vitória signed Matheuzinho on 7 April 2023 after Ypiranga-RS accepted a buy-out clause for the release of his contract. The move brought the attacking midfielder to Salvador following a career built almost entirely in Santa Catarina.
Matheuzinho came through the academy at Figueirense, joining in 2013 and progressing through the ranks before making his first-team debut in 2015. He stayed at the club until 2020, with a season on loan at Hercílio Luz in 2018 to gain further playing time.
After leaving Figueirense, he signed for Caxias in September 2020 and remained there for two years. In October 2022 he moved to Ypiranga-RS, a spell that lasted only a few months before Vitória triggered the clause to bring him in the following spring.
At Vitória, Matheuzinho wears the number 10 shirt, a role suited to his left foot and his profile as an attacking midfielder capable of playing further forward as a striker.
