Los Angeles FC signed the Nigerian forward, born in Calabar, in 2017 after spells at Kadji Sports Academy in Cameroon and Montverde Academy in the United States, but he never played a first-team minute for the MLS club. A loan at Orange County SC brought two goals in 16 USL Championship appearances, and a subsequent move to Rio Grande Valley Toros added 11 more games without a goal.

At FC Roskilde, Etim built himself into a reliable scorer over four seasons, and in 2021/22 he finished as the club's top scorer with 22 goals in 28 matches in the country's third tier. A move to FC Helsingør saw the wheels come off — two goals in 29 league games — before he rediscovered his scoring touch at Hillerød Fodbold, netting 13 times in 36 appearances.

That form persuaded Universitatea Craiova to sign him in September 2025 for a fee reported at €350,000, potentially rising to €600,000 — a deal that made him the Romanian club's most expensive signing at the time. Etim has repaid the investment: alongside his league goals, he has scored three times in five Cupa României appearances and added one in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Craiova won both the Liga I title and the Cupa României in 2025/26, with the left-footed forward, who wears number 12, a regular part of the squad throughout the campaign.
